What is a Reference Model

A Reference model is a framework for understanding significant relationships among the entities of some environment, and for the development of consistent standards or specifications supporting that environment.  A reference model is based on a small number of unifying concepts is an abstraction of the key concepts, their relationships, and their interfaces both to each other and to the external environment may be used as a basis for education and explaining standards to a non-specialist

The Implementation Practices Framework:

The logic of ILM2.0 from an implementation perspective is a holistic, workflow-based approach using sound service management principles.

From this perspective, ILM2.0 provides a key component to Enterprise Information Management focused on implementation practices and control of the datacenter infrastructure.  ILM2.0 provides the requirements and service management methods for "information-centric management," one of the 6 key legs of enterprise information management as the MIKE2.0 community defines it.
